Tools for Promoting Industrial Symbiosis: A Review of Methods and Practices

This paper reviews a range of tools and approaches designed to support the development and implementation of industrial symbiosis. It examines how technical, digital, and organizational instruments—such as databases, matchmaking platforms, and facilitation methods—can help identify and realize resource exchange opportunities among firms. The study highlights the importance of combining data-driven tools with stakeholder engagement and trust-building processes to enable effective collaboration. It also discusses the strengths and limitations of existing tools, providing insights into how they can be improved to accelerate the adoption of industrial symbiosis within circular economy frameworks.
