Industrial Symbiosis and Circular Economy: Opportunities and Challenges for Sustainable Industry
This article explores the role of industrial symbiosis in supporting the transition toward a circular economy and more sustainable industrial practices. It examines how the exchange of materials, energy, and by-products among firms can improve resource efficiency and reduce environmental impacts. The study highlights key drivers such as economic benefits, policy frameworks, and technological innovation, while also addressing barriers including coordination complexity and limited information sharing. The findings underline the importance of collaborative approaches and integrated strategies to successfully implement and scale industrial symbiosis initiatives.
