Barriers to Industrial Symbiosis Implementation: Technical and Non-Technical Challenges
This report investigates the main technical and non-technical barriers affecting the implementation of industrial symbiosis. It provides a structured analysis of the obstacles that limit the development and scaling of resource exchange practices between industries. Technical barriers include issues related to process compatibility, infrastructure requirements, and technological readiness, while non-technical challenges involve regulatory constraints, economic uncertainties, organizational resistance, and lack of information. The study also emphasizes the role of stakeholder coordination, trust-building, and governance frameworks in overcoming these barriers.
