Industrial Symbiosis and Energy Efficiency: Integrating Resource Flows for Sustainable Systems
This article examines the role of industrial symbiosis in improving energy efficiency and supporting sustainable industrial systems. It focuses on how the exchange and optimization of energy and material flows among industries—such as waste heat recovery and shared energy infrastructure—can reduce resource consumption and environmental impacts. The study analyzes key enabling factors, including technological integration, economic incentives, and policy frameworks, as well as barriers related to coordination and implementation. The findings highlight the potential of industrial symbiosis to contribute to energy transition goals and enhance the overall sustainability of industrial networks.
