This project develops a concept note to integrate industrial symbiosis and circular economy principles into Nordic vocational education systems. Based on needs assessments and stakeholder input, it provides guidance for curricula that enhance sustainability skills, align with industry demands and prepare students for green employment (2025).
This Erasmus+ project aims to support the integration of industrial symbiosis principles into vocational education and training (VET) systems in the Nordic countries. Recognising the growing importance of circular economy practices and resource efficiency, the project focuses on developing a structured concept note to guide the inclusion of industrial symbiosis in VET curricula.
The project brings together education providers and relevant stakeholders to identify key competences, learning outcomes, and pedagogical approaches needed to equip learners with practical skills in industrial symbiosis. It emphasises the alignment of training content with labour market needs, ensuring that future professionals are capable of contributing to sustainable industrial practices.
Through collaborative development and knowledge exchange, the project provides a foundation for curriculum innovation in VET, supporting the green transition and strengthening the capacity of education systems to respond to emerging industrial sustainability challenges in the Nordic context.
