A new circular economy concept: from textile waste towards chemical and textile industries feedstock (RESYNTEX)

RESYNTEX establishes a textile–chemical symbiosis model by transforming non-reusable textile waste into valuable feedstock. The project redesigns the entire value chain, enhances collection systems and citizen engagement, implements traceability data systems and develops new business models. Automated sorting and an innovative chemical–biotechnological recycling process enable fibre recovery and loop closure (2015-2019).

DYNAMIX – Dynamic Policy Mixes for Absolute Decoupling of Environmental Impact from Economic Growth

The DYNAMIX project explores how policy mixes can support the transition towards absolute decoupling of environmental impacts from economic growth in the European Union. Recognising that incremental efficiency improvements are insufficient to achieve long-term sustainability goals, the project investigates systemic policy approaches capable of reducing overall resource use and environmental pressures while maintaining economic prosperity.

DYNAMIX develops and assesses innovative policy instruments and combinations of measures targeting key drivers of resource consumption, including production patterns, consumption behaviour, and economic structures. The project combines quantitative modelling, scenario analysis, and stakeholder engagement to evaluate the effectiveness, feasibility, and socio-economic implications of different policy pathways.

Through case studies and forward-looking scenarios, DYNAMIX identifies policy mixes that can lead to significant reductions in material use, greenhouse gas emissions, and environmental degradation. It also addresses governance challenges, public acceptance, and institutional barriers, providing strategic recommendations for EU policymakers to support the transition towards a resource-efficient, low-impact, and sustainable economy.
