The New Circular Economy Action Plan (2020) defines a comprehensive strategy to accelerate the transition towards a regenerative and resource-efficient economic model in the European Union. The Action Plan also identifies priority value chains—including electronics, batteries, packaging, plastics, textiles, and construction—where targeted measures are needed to improve circularity and reduce environmental impacts. Complementary actions focus on waste prevention, strengthening markets for secondary raw materials, and reducing reliance on landfill and exports of waste.
Cross-cutting measures support the transition through innovation, digital technologies, sustainable finance, and skills development, while reinforcing the EU’s global leadership in circular economy policies.
