Advancing Industrial Symbiosis: A Pathway Toward Circular and Sustainable Industrial Systems
This article explores the contribution of industrial symbiosis to the transition toward circular and sustainable industrial systems. It examines how collaborative networks enable the exchange of materials, energy, and by-products, reducing waste and improving overall resource efficiency. The study analyzes key drivers, including economic incentives, environmental regulations, and technological advancements, as well as barriers such as coordination challenges and lack of information. Emphasis is placed on the importance of governance, stakeholder engagement, and systemic approaches to scale up industrial symbiosis practices and integrate them effectively within circular economy frameworks.
